Forgive so that your Heavenly Father will forgive you also.
Forgiveness
Forgiveness is a supernatural loving ability given by our Father in Heaven. Look at what Jesus did on the Cross. He was persecuted, rejected, crucified, hated, and disrespected. Yet in the midst of it all He said, " Father forgive them for they know not what they do." Another passage in the bible that comes to mind in relation to forgiveness is "Love covers a multitude of sins." Obviously when someone is in need of forgiveness they have sinned against God. The Lord tells us to forgive others their sins when they sin against us or our Father in Heaven will not forgive us of our sins. Forgive others as ye would be forgiven. Another thing about Forgiveness is God says in His word that if we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us. So in some circumstances it seems as though it is a little easier to forgive when someone is asking you to forgive them. This is because if an individual has been wronged but can see a repentant heart in the individual who has wronged them it make it easier to forgive. Now forgiveness toward someone who has done wrong and has not felt sorry for their wrong, this type of person the bible tells us to separate ourselves from them. We are still to forgive them for there wrong. This allows for the burden to be lifted from our spirit. Praying for the people that do you wrong or sin against you helps you to give the burden on your own heart to the Lord. The immense forgiveness in love is that you have forgiven whether or not a person has asked you for forgiveness or not. This kind of love changes the hearts of people for the better.
There are many different things out there we can forgive for. Weather someone has wronged you physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, or even financially. One of the hard things to do is to forgive yourself sometimes. If you have wronged someone you love sometimes it is hard for you to forgive yourself. Know this that prayer in faith is one of the most effective defenses against the devils fiery darts. He will continuously bombard you with mental deceptions that are negative and completely destructive to your emotional and spiritual state of mind. (Philippians Ch 4:4-9) You should read these verses and apply them to your life daily. When you have the peace of God about you it makes it so much easier to forgive. They say " How come God is letting this happen to me?" God is not doing this to you the sin in your life that separates you from God is doing this to you. God chastens the ones He loves. When we get off on the wrong path we need to turn to God to get us back on the right path. If we give Satan a foot hold in the door he is going to push and push until we let him right on in. That is why the word of God tells us to " Resist the Devil and he will flee." Walk according to the will of God and don't allow for Satan to put his foot in the door. After Jesus had fasted for 40 days Satan tried to deceive Jesus three times but Jesus was not deceived. Why? Because he used the word of God to tell Satan to get lost. Hebrews Ch 4:12 says "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."
